iIn 2Q24, total U.S. lottery sales increased +3% y/y but decreased -4% q/q to $26.7 billion across the 46 U.S. jurisdictions we track in our report. Instant Tickets sales increased +3% y/y to $18.5 billion due to iLottery growth which was enough to offset a modest decline in underlying retail Instant Ticket sales. Instant Ticket sales declined -1% q/q and retail Instant Ticket declined -2% q/q which was below the 11-yr, pre-COVID average trend of flat q/q growth in 2Q. It’s also worth noting that 1H24 retail Instant Ticket sales have declined -3% y/y. This suggests Instant Ticket sales in the U.S. are moderating in many jurisdictions. Draw game wagers increased +4% y/y but declined -10% q/q to $8.1 billion. The annual growth was driven by stronger multi-state jackpot activity while the sequential softness was due to weaker multi-state jackpot activity.
